    Default frigging

    Hi,
Is the word 'frigging' very vulgar? Is it as bad as the word 'fucking'?
Just today Yahoo's headline story uses it http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/35186/...e-george-lucas

It's considered a euphemism for the word f**king. It's still not necessarily polite, but it isn't really vulgar. They'll say "frigging" on some TV shows. A less questionable substitute for the "F" word is "freaking." "I can't freaking believe he said that!"

If you're a children's book writer, will you use 'freaking' in your book? I'm trying to find out how offensive it is.

For a children's book, I think "freaking" would be acceptable. Most likely you'd say "feakin'", as kids tend to drop their final "g". "Frigging" would definitely not be suitable for a children's book.

It's not used so much in British English in this sense. Maybe that's because we prefer stronger language.
