Just as with the adjectives, it is the nongradable ones that normally cannot be compared: uniquely, automatically, singly, etc.

thanks for your reply. Would that be true to say that there are more nongradable adverbs (now, today,yet, uniquely, singly,etc.) than those gradable?

I don't think so. The sorts of nongradables you mention are of a finite set, while the descriptive gradables (beautifully, prettily, handsomely, attractively, cutely, etc) seem to go on forever.

Just my opinion, though.
