I saw the line below in a dialogue. What I am wondering about is the usage and meaning of "shouldn't have to".
In what situation, do they use the phrase and what difference is there between "I think we don't have to go." and "I think we shoulnd't have to go."?
The dialogue is:
A: Do we really have to go to the cemetery?
B: Not going is simply out of the question, do you understand?
A: Just hear me out, OK? All I'm saying is that I think we shouldn't have to go.
B: Sorry if you think this falls on deaf ears, but it's a tradition.
