Stingy with words + giveway
But Mr Doraisamy also was one who stinted on words in writing. He wrote just four words in my report book and they told it all: 'Can work, but lazy.'
The sentence above is taken from http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/new...29493,00.html? article.
I read somewhere that taciturn refers to someone who is stingy with words when speaking. Is there a word to describe someone who is stingy with words when writing ?
Additionally, I was waiting for a train yesterday and a sign above the door reads: "Please giveway to passengers leaving the train". I'm cocksure that giveway is wrong. Shouldn't it be "give way" ?
Finally, what does the phrase "rolling his eyes" mean ?
Thanks

Yes, it should be two words.

I suppose you could say it is a way of expressing mild disapproval. It is something like saying, "Oh boy! There she goes again."
