Default global processes / global functions?

"The left cerebral hemisphere is larger than the rihgt hemisphere, which is involved in spatial and global processes...many women appear to have less separation of global and logical functions than men."

What do "global processes" and "global functions" mean?

The thought process that are involved. However, I am not sure what 'global' means in this context- it sounds to me as if it could have a particular meaning.
