Comparative words
I have been having problems with comparative words like "more than", "as much as", "better than". With the following sentences, could you tell me more rules about the use of comparative words:
1. a) I found myself much better prepared to stand than to sit down.
b) I found myself much better prepared to stand than I was prepared to sit down.
c) It is easier to say than do
d) it is easier to say than to do
which sentences are correct and why?
2. a) Balls are as much objects as book.
b) Balls are as much objects as are books.
c) Balls are as much objects as books are
d) Balls are as important objects as books
e) Balls are as important objects as are books.
f) Balls are as important objects as books are.
g) Balls are as much important objects as book are.
3 a) I have as many friends outside my schools as within
b) I have as many friends outside my school as I have within my school
c) I have more books than John
d) I have more books than John has
e) They have more children than we
f) They have more children than we have
Which sentences are correct and why?
Please help me to overcome my problems in this area. Thank you for your usual help.

Re: Comparative words
1. a) I found myself much better prepared to stand than to sit down.
b) I found myself much better prepared to stand than I was prepared to sit down.
B) is clumsy and too long for me, though it isn't wrong, but a) is less wordy.
c) It is easier to say than do
d) it is easier to say than to do
You could use either
2 Balls are objects as much as books are.
3- Again, I'd use the shorter one
3c/d Either
