| could you please tell me whether the expression "meet" could also mean "encounter something"? E.g.: I meet such values at every factory without exception. Does "meet" mean "encounter" or "fulfil, follow, adhere to" here? Thank you very much. Hanka |

| . I think you've already correctly identified the problem that arises if you use meet instead of encounter in that sentence. . But I'd say if you used meet in the passive form, there would be no question that the intended meaning is encounter: . I am met by such values at every factory without exception. . |
