Hi everybody,
Could someone tell me whether it is possible to say that something is a "deliberate symbol for social status" ? Or do I have to use "of" instead of "for"?
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Anna-Lena
You'd better say for
Symbols are symbolic of something.
A blue light is the symbol of the police.
A raised fist is a symbol of solidarity.
A twelve-cylinder BMW is a deliberate symbol of social status.
Thanks Mykwyner. These are very good examples.
