Exclamation How to read the years

Hello, Could you tell me how to pronounce or read the year in the following sentence. I only know how to read years consisting of four figures and Iam supposed to give a talk. Thank you in advance.

" The Preslav literary school was the most important cultural centre of all Slavs until the capture and burning of Preslav by the Byzantine Emperor John I Tzimisces in 972."

As a rule, you only pronounce the "hundred" if the middle digit is a zero, i.e. 703 = "seven hundred and three" or "seven-oh-three."
