Default according to this situation?

I wonder if i can say according to this situation as the meaning of as it stands now. for example,( also, if you find any mistakes, could you please correct them?) Thanks in advance.

1. According to this situation, it seems to be impossible to meet the due date.

2.Thank you for your e-mail, in which you gave me some important pieces of advice.

I think placing "important" in front of "advice" will be better.
