Dear teachers,
I was watching a movie when I noticed the use of grammar which is different from what grammar books write. The two sentences are as follows:
No.1
A: Even when it stopped raining we didn't come out.
B: Yeah.
From the context B should answer 'No' because they didn't come out.
No.2
A: You are to be married without telling us?
B: Yeah.
From the context B should answer 'No' because he didn't tell A when he made the decision.
My question is " Has English this grammatical rule changed "?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.

1- Yeah seems be agreeing with the statement as a whole- just agreeing with the speaker to push the conversation forward, and not answering a question.
2- I think you have got the wrong part of the sentence- the person is confirming that they are to be married without telling them:
Yes, I am to be married without telling you.
Also, remember that a lot of speech doesn't follow the strict rules of grammar, so you will hear things being said that contradict the rule you read.![]()
