Can I use 'to find' with adverb 'down' ?
What is ''to find down'' mean?
Thanks
Hi
.
Of course there may be sentences in which you use the verb find with down. It all depends on what you want to say. But "find down" is not a specific phrasal verb. So, without a sentence to go along with it, "find down" has no specific meaning for me.
.
Hello Philly.
The origin sentence is '' A good man who you are looking for is not difficult to find down''
I wonder find down here means find out. Is that right?
Hi maithu
.
The sentence is a bit odd, and to say for sure what the writer intended, it would be helpful to know even more of the context.
.
One thing that comes to mind, however, is the phrasal verb "track down" which means 'to follow or look for until found'. In other words, the meaning of "track down" is similar to the meaning of the verb "find".
.
I think "find out" is probably not the intended meaning.
Hi Philly.
I know the meaning of sentence depends on the context, but sometime there are phrases make me can not guess what the writer intended (in the example given). Anyway, I would like to say 'thank you' for your explanation.
I hope for the best in learning English with all your help.![]()
