Personally, I think I need more context here. 'Fodder' roughly means 'food', but is now only used either for animal feed (e.g. 'cattle fodder'), or in an idiomatic sense. My best guess at your sentence would be that 'dig' is being used as a euphemism for 'insult' - for example, "That's a nasty dig - you know he hasn't recovered from being rejected by his last girlfriend."

So, if I heard only "fodder for an occasional dig", I would take it to mean 'an easy target for cheap insults'.

Hi. Thank you very much. You´re right. The context is a family quarrel, so it really sounds like an insult. Something like " every little thing you can do or say leads to a fight ". Milton
