Default "Have a good one"!

Dear members,
I am happy to join you at this forum and share ideas with you!
English is a dynamic language that keeps on changing with time and age.
These days when I meet my friends and everybody wishes me "a good one" all the time. What actually do they mean?
Bye members and all of you have a good one this weekend.
Jason.

"Have a good one" is a generic wish that you enjoy whatever it is that you are about to do. Unfortunately through overuse, it has now become associated with meaning "I don't care what you're doing - just go and do it". I'm not suggesting your friends mean that, but be careful when and how you use the sentence. It has reached the status of a cliche.

I agree that it has become a cliche. I hear it used especially when someone is going out to a pub, club, party, concert, etc.

.
I'd understand "Have a good one" to mean basically the same thing as "Have a nice day."

Hi,

May I ask what's the correct way to respond to this expression (if a response is at all needed)?

Thanks.

I would say "Thanks, I'll try" or "Thanks, I will".
