There are two main types.
Renaming the object:
The President named Mr. Smith Ambassador to China.
The citizens elected him Mayor.
The Cardinals made him Pope.
Resultative adjectives:
The chef cooked the steak rare.
The man painted the fence red.
She swept the floor clean.
