Post black tongue

Thanks a lot for the beautiful explanation of "Bridge of Asses" and "Wrong footing". I have a mine of questions which seem will never end. What is : (1) "Knee trembler" (2) "chasing chimera" and (3) "The black tongue".

It would be helpful if you provided context for these phrases.

As it is, I can only give you guesses.

Trembling of the knees is often a description of fear, so a "knee trembler" might be something scary, like a horror movie.

The only non-medical meaning of "chimera" is "fanciful mental illusion". This may mean pursuing such an illusion. This sould have an article before the noun.

"Black tongue" could be a mild medical condition of the tongue or a normal description of chow chow dogs.

From reading a lot of books about the Beatles, I've learned that in British slang, a "knee trembler" refers to a very quick sexual encounter, usually performed in a standing position. (Sorry if that's Too Much Information, as they say. )
