Hi,
what is the meaning of this one:
"If you are still running ads that look like ads, sound like ads, and are loaded to the gills with cliches
thanks
"Loaded to the gills" strikes me as a mixture of two idioms:
Laden [sometimes 'loaded'] to the gunwales [pronounced to rhyme with 'funnels']
and
Stuffed to the gills
They both mean "as full as possible"/"overflowing"/"so full as to be uncomfortable [the second one] or dangerous [the first one]"
The ad is talking about badly written ads (of which, it seems to me, this is one)
