Question die hard

Hi.
Putting aside that famous movie, what "die hard" means? How can you use that phrase?
Thanks.

hey, though I'm not a teacher but maybe I can help. According to"Longman Dictionary Of Contemporary English", Die-Hard: [noun] someone who opposes change and refuses to accept new ideas.

Hi,
Good job, Jacool. I've always seen it as an attribute, meaning a staunch orthodox supporter of some ideas.
Mr.X is a die-hard communist.
Mr.Z is a die-hard descriptivist.
I am not a die-hard prescriptivist.
Cheers
