Another nice portmanteau is "chortle" -- it's a chuckle combined with a snort.

Oh!!! I love it! I love these types of made up/combination words. I do it all the time and didn't realise there was a name for it! I liked the explanation too of why 'portmanteau'. I'm really pleased that I asked. Thanks folks.

I heard a triple one recently- celebutard (celebrity + debutante + retard) for a particularly stupid celebrity.

Actor-turned-California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. One of his nicknames, "The Governator" is a combination of "governor" and "Terminator".
"The Beatles" also has the same trick, which combines "Beat" with "beetle".

Interesting coincidence in the history of language: the word 'governor' is based on a metaphor - the Latin for 'rudder', which is gubernator.
