I know the term 'tummy bug' is used when someone throws up and has diarhea, etc.

Is there another term to say that. I want to say 'my friend has a ____, she has problems with her stomach and she gets sick

The medical term is Gastroenteritis but it is often called Stomach flu or Gastric flu (although it's not related to Influenza)

You can say my friend has stomach flu /gastric flu

"Tummy" is primarily a children's word, so doesn't suit all situations.

If the problem is caused by food, you can call it "food poisoning". If it's caused by an infection, you can call it a "stomach bug".
