| Microsoft Word has automatic footnotes. If you search for the keyword "footnotes" in the MS Word Help program, it will give you instructions. Jessica |

| The Word shortcut is Ctrl+Alt+f and they will be done automatically, including numbering. |

| It depends- I teach post-graduate students sometimes and they have to use footnotes. At lower levels, I rarely see them used. |
