Please read the following sentence:

When the court checked up on his property, it found more than 10 million yuan worth of cash and valuables for which he could not explain the source.
I think here 'for which' means 'the source for his property'. But I have consulted my dictionaries and could only find the use of 'source of'. There wasn't a single example of 'source for'. Could you please explain if this is a mistake?
