    Is simply better than confuse?
It is indeed. To elaborate means to express at great length and in great detail. To simplify means to reduce in complexity and extent.

    Why not (A)?
To levy is to impose a tax or fine.

A and B are close, but "rescind" is much closer to opposite in meaning.
"Relinquish" usually means to give up or let go.

I chose C. I think pitch is the a quality of sound and force is one kind of pressure. Well...it's nonsense! Haha...I need your help again!

    The answer is A.
The pitch of sound depends on the frequency of acoustic waves.
The color of light depends on the wavelength of light "waves".

I see why B is correct. Why not A? What about if I change it to flower:chrysanthemum?
A butterfly is a subset of insect.
Metaphysics is a subset of philospophy.

Chrysanthemum is a subset of flower (very good), not botany.

    Why not B?

    That's a tough one.

Burgeon is an expanded version of grow (grow and flourish).
Palpitate is an expanded version of beat (beat rapidly)

Flourish and thrive are very close in meaning. Thrive is not an expanded version of flourish.
