Hello!
The following sentences are about an British writier , who once was a promising politician and I have some questions about some of the sentneces.

1. Despite the recent and expensive faiure of his latest West End play, Jeffy Archer is not noticeably down and a considerable distance from out. ( what does it mean by noticealy down.... from out??)

2. It( writing) happens mainly between six and eight in the morning. I like that session. It is the original session. Then I correct from three till five...( what does it mean by original session???)

3. The writing has to fit into a political schedule. Still offered several Parliamentay seats a year, which he firmly turns down, he accpects innumerable spekaing engagements ..

( what does it mean by the writing has to fit into ... schedule???

Also, the followings are from an article titled " Springing hot from the bowels of the earth( what does the title mean exactly? I am not sure how to understnad springing hot...??) . It is about world famous spas and still some of the sentnences are confusing to me.

4. Poaching under the volcano.( what is the meaning of poaching here?)

5. The secret lies in the Moor, a dark oozing mud found only at Neyharting, a strange area of moorland set amid lakes and gentle green hills.... the focal point of each day is the Moor bath. ( my question: Does the Moor indicate any special area? If not, why M starts with the upper case??)

6. Others come to use the mud for cosmetic purposes and it has not been incorporated in a range of beauty products. A variety of walks takes the place of the more sophiscated pursuits available in my spa town)


7. While some my be put off by the lack of facilities, others find a raw appeal about the place.

He has a schedule of commitments to other matters, such as speaking engagements, family engagements etc, and the writing periods have to be fitted into these.

I think this is a cooking term. Eggs are poached in simmering hot water - it's a slow means of cooking.

As it is capitalized, then yes, it is referring to a specific area.

"Be put off" = will not enjoy the lack of facilities and will not want to come

"raw appeal about the place" = others will enjoy the feeling that they are in an unsophisticated or wild place.

Firstly, the mud referred to has a therapeutic effect on the skin, and people come to the spa in order to bathe in it. As a result, the mud has been used as an ingredient in creams and emollients to spread on the skin, these products being sold to people to use in their homes.

Secondly, because the spa does not have sophisticated entertainments (casino, disco, shopping etc), the people coming to it for treatment go for walks in the surrounding countryside.
