Question difference between subject and major

What is the difference between subject and major? I know the different meanings of subject but I want to know can we say my subject is physics at the university or we just use major for university?

Hi

In the US, you could say "My major is physics" or "I'm majoring in psychology." to talk about which major field of study you are focusing on at university.
.
.
If you said "My subject is physics", that would sound like you want to give a presentation and your topic is physics (for example). Or you might use the word 'subject' to refer to one single class.
