Question meaning of " I've looked around enough"

What is the meaning of "I've looked aound enough" in Jim Croce's song "Time in a bottle"? Are there any hidden meaning?

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

Hello S Chan.

It means that he's known, dated, seen, talked to enough women to realize that the woman he currently involved with is the one he wants forever.

I think that the reasoning I gave could still hold true, S Chan, though I must admit that it seems a wee bit stranger given this info. But it's still a way to say that this person is really special.

Having said that I'll qualify it by stating that I can't know with absolute certainty what Jim actually meant.

Hello Riverkid,

From the point of view of a father writing this song for his unborn son, what is your idea of the meaning of the whole verse?

I can't connect the meaning of the first sentence "But there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do, once you find them." to the second sentence "I've looked around enough to know that you're the one I want to go through time with"

It's hard to say for sure what he meant but let's try this, S Chan.

In the second part, maybe Jim's saying that he has had enough time in the "wild life" and that all he wants to do is spend time with his newborn son.

Maybe the first part means that there never really is enough quality time to do quality things with the most important things in life.

'I've looked around enough' simply means that he has experienced life and those experiences have allowed him to decide what is the best course of action. In other words he's learned by his mistakes

Curmudgeon,

Your interpretation is reasonable. How do you interpret the meaning of the first sentence of the verse? I can't link the meaning of the first sentence to the second sentence. Who is the subject of the first sentence?

Could be, that time passess and is precious and there never seems to be enough of it to do the things you really want to do.

Its a very common theme in poetry and song.
