Default "the" or no "the"

Hi,

Articles have always be a headache of mine. Could anyone help to identify which one of following pairs of sentences is correct? And why. Thanks a lot.

1(a) I learned from the newspaper that the Washington Mushroom Festival would be held this Friday.
1(b) In learned from the newspaper that Washington Mushroom Festival would be help this Friday.

2(a) He suggested going to the Spruce Park.
2(b) He suggested going to Spruce Park.

1.a. is correct. Even if the capitalized words are the title of the festival, the construction is more natural with the article. This is an event.

2.b. is correct. "Spruce Park" is the name of the park. This is a location.
