Default unleash one's dog

'unleash one's dog'

Is 'unleash' used only for attack dogs, fierce dogs or hunting dogs?

Isn't it used for pet dogs?
How about the following example?

'At the park she unleashed her dog and let him run free.'

Thanks.

Hi, Peppy,
Your example is OK. It's for any dogs.
Cheers
