| Hi Sorry your right, I wasn't very clear, most likely because i am confused myself. I have an assignment question i am stuck on - I want to understand the question. It talks about knowing a language is not just a matter of having grammatical competence. We also need to have communicative competence. Is there any place for teaching grammar in a formal manner? give reasons for your answer. Does this question mean is there any place for teaching the Queens English? or could it mean structure, drills etc. I came to my conclusion Queens English because of the words formal manner. Hope you can help. thanks |

| Err... so it's not your own question? There might be some places where only Queen's English is taught, I don't know. At Eton? Not sure. |
