Hi. I know that we say "That program is on TV tonight". But what about theatres or cinemas? Do we use that same grammatical structure in English for the two latter items? Or can we use the verb "play" in this situation? For example. is it correct in English to say: "That program is played in X cinema tonight"? THANKS.
could you tell me how to use"if-clause"? how many patterns of them? I am very confuse with that. Thank you for your help.
Hey limamanis,
I asked a question about the verb "play", but you posed another question instead of replying mine. Anyhow, they have 3 main patterns for using "if" in English.
- if + present simple, --> simple future
(If you study hard, you will pass the test.) [Nothing has happened yet; everything is up to you now. So decide for your future.]- if + simple past, --> "would" + base form of the verb
(If you were a millionnaire, you would go to Miami.) [you are not a millionnaire now. It is an unreal condition.]- if + past perfect, --> "would have" + past participle
(If you had studied hard, you would have passed the test.) [You did not study before, so you did noy pass it in the past.]
(
I hope that was useful for you.
Be happy,

Because that was the order the words came out. Reflecting on it, I guess I initially meant to write "We also say", and it wasn't until I'd typed "also" that I thought of adding "sometimes". With a bit of extra effort, I could have moved the cursor back (and then forwards), but the order wasn't (isn't) sensitive enough for me to bother.
