What is an 'adverbial clause of reason'?
How to identify if a sentence contains this type of clause?
Adverbs or adverbial clauses answer a question. For example, an adverbial clause of place answers the question "where?" "Adverbial clause of reason answer the question "why?"
John studies English because he wants a good job in America.
Why does John study English? Because he....
Because is a very common conjunction used to introduce adverbial clauses of reason. There are also: since, as, inasmuch as, so, in order that, etc.
