Lightbulb Help me with a title

    Hello!

I don't know if this is the right place for this subject, but I noticed that this part of the forums is the most visited.

    so...my problem...
I'm supposed to write a paper on literature. I chose Daniel Defoe's novels but I don't know what title to give to my paper (it's about 70 pages and I want to speak about Robinson Crusoe, Moll Flanders, A journal of the Plague Year etc)

I thought on: Daniel Defoe- Father of the English Novel

If you have another idea please help me.

    Thanks a lot
    teyla

Technically, your title is fine. But from a creative standpoint, it is a bit "blah," or unexciting. Let me explain...even in my early days of schooling, the teacher always emphasized the importance of a title to an essay or term paper. The title is the first thing the reader sees, and it will either be interesting enough to entice him to read further, or it will make him shrug and toss the paper aside. So we were always reminded that, no matter what the topic of the paper may be, we should come up with an interesting or unusual title that made the reader wonder "what might this paper actually be about?"

In the case of Daniel Defoe, I would look at his bibliography and see if you can create a clever title out of some of his works. Or look for any unusual items in his biography and see if there's something you can use. Even something as simple as his most famous poem could be incorporated into your title: "A True-Born Englishman: the Works of Daniel Defoe." His surname was actually Foe (he later changed it), so you could make a pun: "Friend not Foe of English Literature."

Just some ideas off the top of my head, I'm sure you'll come up with something much better.
