Question memory

Hi,

In the following paragraph (that I translated it from Russian)

She said she wasn't happy with him. She told me 'Sometimes I try to find one good memory for him ,only one...I can't find any'

I am not sure about what's inside the quotations.

Is it OK to use the word memory...ie one memory?

Is 'for' the right preposition?

I feel I made a mistake but I don't know where it is.!

Thank you very much in advance!

I would use "of".

Using the word "memory" is acceptable. I would also use "of" rather than "for". With "for" it might be mistaken to mean she is trying to give him a good memory, rather than trying to remember one of him.
