Re: Pronounciation of final ed
You have to check the final sound of the infinitive (without the -ed ending) and then apply the rule:
1- if the final sound is /t/ or /d/ (e.g. "start", "decide") then the -ed ending is pronounced /id/
2- if the final sound is voiceless, that is /p, t, k, f, s and the final sounds of wash or reach, then the -ed ending is pronounced /t/. [I'm sorry, but I don't know how to write phonetic symbols here]
3- if the final sound is any other, that is the rest of the consonant sounds and all the vowels, then the pronunciation of the -ed ending is /d/
So there are three possible pronunciations for an -ed ending. This is one of the few things in English whose pronunciation you can predict
I have found this page about it. I hope you find it useful: FORM OF THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE WITH REGULAR VERBS

Re: Pronounciation of final ed
Ana's answer is fine. I'd just add that among the (many, I'm afraid
) variations you'll hear among native speakers, there's this one (used by, among others, Tony Blair): in the first case instead of /ıd/ you hear /əd/. This is not recommended; but you'll hear it - and it's not a question of register: the Prime Minister uses this whatever context he's in (home, House of Commons, Blue Peter studio, wherever he is).
