Hello Teacher.
My Name is Hector from Argentina.
Please, Forgive me if I am not sticking to some rules that I should know.
Recently I was listening to an AudioBook "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", then I herd the following: "I watched you grow up Indy", from my perspective the narrator should have said "I watched you TO grow up Indy" but searching in Google for the pattern "I watched you " plus infinitive I found this very common. I understand that Google doesn't mean purism, but I ended in doubt. Could you help me to understand?.
Thank you for your help.
Hector.
Hi and welcome
It's a case of bare infinitive, that is an infinitive form without "to". Many verbs, such as help, make, etc. form these sentences.
Examples:
He made me do it
They helped us win
Mariner,
Thank you very much. Now it is perflectly clear to me, and I need to practice to incorporte the concept.
Again, thank you.
