| The first sentence is OK. The second sentence should be: His first swing missed, but on the second swing, the sword went directly into Zaroff's stomach. |

| May I suggest: I think the wound from "swinging" a sword would be a cut. Perhaps on the second effort the sword "plunged" into his stomach. Regards |
