Default hold the lecture

hello everybody,
when i teach in a classroom, do i hold/ take(usually used in India) a lecture?
which one is correct?

I'd say 'hold' but 'take' is understandable.

If you were a student you might 'take in' a lecture.

IMO, one gives a lecture or one lectures.
