    Default girl friend or female friend

    Is it OK for a girl to call another girl her "girl friend" without being misunderstood that she is a lesbian. The same question goes to male. Thanks!

    Yes, straight women often call their female friends girlfriends; straight men don't call their male friends boyfriends.
