Question telephone number

I saw in Oxford dictionary this telephone number: 25844 two five eight double four. Do we say double four? Do American people say double or not?

There are many ways to say numbers. In the US, our phone numbers are usually 7 digits. The first 3 are separate from the last 4.

987-6544

IMO, the most common method is to pronounce each number with a pause after the first 3: 9-8-7...6-5-4-4

The second most common is the pronounce the last four as two two-digit numbers. 9-8-7...sixty-five forty-four.

Some may say double 4, but it isn't common.
