| We use tall mostly for people, trees, buildings with many floors, and a few other things which are higher than they are wide (e.g. factory chimneys). How tall are you? I'd like something cool to drink in a tall glass. In measurements, we use tall for people, but we often use high for things. I'm six feet tall. That tree is about eighty feet high/tall (both are okay) HTH :) |

| While they are both relative terms, I would normally think of tall as applying to the structure and high as applying to a particular point--either in space or on a structure. :) |
