Could you please tell me what a 'yard dog' is? Is it a dog to guard one's home or is it simply a name for any dog? I have consulted my dictionaries but failed to find the explanation to it.
Yes, it means a dog that stays outside all the time, in the yard, or grounds around a house. It would normally be used to describe a dog that is used for guarding property and not a pet dog which would normally be kept inside the house
Thank you very much for your explanation. Now I see.
Best wishes,
Jiang
