I have to correct the sentence 'George Clooney is very gorgeous'. I have corrected it to 'George Clooney is gorgeous' but i am not sure why 'very' should not be used. Please help.

Gorgeous already means very beautiful, so many would say that it can't be graded again. That said, "very" can be used as an intensifier even when grading seems to be illogical. It is better without "very", but it is not really incorrect with it.

I have a friend who always exclaims after a meal 'that was very delicious'. I often laugh at him for that.
