    Default The use of "hurt"

I came across a question the other day concerning the use of "hurt". I am not quite sure if the sentence, "My body hurt." is gramatically correct or not.
If it is not, could these be other possible options:
    "My body was in pain"?
    "My body ached"?
Which is the best choice ?
If there are any grammatical errors in these three sentences, can you please point them out?

"My body hurts," is a grammatically correct sentence.

All three of your sentences are OK.

"...aches" would mean a general, constant pain.

"...in pain" would mean a pain (usually) more severe than an ache.

"...hurts" would be non-specific about the degree of pain.

"My body hurt" is a correct past tense sentence.

All of the sentences are grammatically correct. However, I wouldn't use any of them. If I have a headache then I hurt.

Let's face it, when a man gets so much as a sniffle he hurts and takes to his bed, summons two medical opinions and writes to ABC suggesting he'd make a great two-part episode for Grey's Anatomy.
