| How about a cattle/kettle of fish? I know there´s the expression that´s another kettle of fish..but how about the spelling? And last but not least, does one say..I went to the market and bought 3 fish? |

| Avalon: What would be correct to say? A school of fish, a shoal of fish ? How about a fish school, a fish shoal? I could google things and search for the answer but I´d rather ask here..It´s much more fun! I'd say you could use either, Avalon, but 'school of fish' is more common, IMO. How about a cattle/kettle of fish? I know there´s the expression that´s another kettle of fish..but how about the spelling? 'kettle' is the word you want. 'cattle' means a group of cows/calves/bulls or a group of just one of those things. And last but not least, does one say..I went to the market and bought 3 fish? Sure, that's fine. |
