    Default admonition

    Hello,

could you please tell me which expression should be used, e.g. admonition or reprehension, when an employee fails to fulfil his obligations, breaches the terms of the employment contract etc. and the employer makes several oral or written "admonitions" before a disciplinary procedure will be initiated.

    Thank you very much.

I've heard the word warning used in these instances.

An employee might receive a certain number of verbal or written warnings before more serious disciplinary procedures were initiated.

    *Reprehension

Admonition - OK, but rather formal.

As boothling said, warning is probably best - preceded by some appropriate adjective: 'informal/verbal/written/official'. A sportsman who has been warned is sometimes described as 'under notice'.
