I suspect you know the answer already
The film that we saw last night was better than any of the other films
The film that we saw last night was better than any other film
i really did not know the answer, and unfortunately, i didn't get the reason you chose those choices
plz s.b explain me the use of words after (other) and (another)
The film that we saw last night was better than any of the other films
If you chose "film" instead of "films", the sentence would be "...better than any of the other film". That doesn't make sence, because you have two films to begin with, "the film we saw last night" and "the other film", so "any of" here is out of place.
The film that we saw last night was better than any other film
If you chose "films" instead of "film", something should follow to refer to a particular group of films.
E.g.
The film that we saw last night was better than any other films in my collection
Still, I would prefer to use "any other film in my collection"
