Help needed

Hi I was hoping you could clarify if I was discussing the British Government I used a capital letter for British and Government. What is the rule for this? i.e. if discussing British forces ...is it Forces or forces. I need to identify the grammatical reasoning behind this (my memory of A-Level English has failed me on this occasion!).

British should always be capitalized, but you know that. IMO, if you are discussing the specific government, those people in office, I would capitalize the G. If you are discussing government in general, I would not.

The British Government has (have in British) come out against the current UN resolution.

The British government is a parliamentary system.
