The main verb of the sentence is "take". "Reporting" is a type of verbal known as a gerund. A gerund is an -ing word that acts as a noun. In this case, the gerund is the object of the preposition "in". What follows the gerund are its direct object and an adverb that modifies the gerund.

A sentence can have as many verbs as a writer can cram in there.

I wrote this sentence, then I wanted more verbs, so I added a few here, dropped a couple more there, and finally, I decided that I had used enough and stopped.

Why stop at two? The dog runs, jumps, barks, sniffs, lifts his leg, growls, bites, rolls over, and falls asleep.

The point is that a sentence is not limited to one or two verbs. A sentence can have an unlimited number of subjects and an unlimited number of verbs, and still be grammatical.
