"Despite the discrepancies in volume, red wine, white wine and brandy all contain one unit of alcohol."
I'm confused about the meaning of the former half of this sentence. Is it saying that no matter how much you drink, those drinks mentioned all contain one unit of alcohol? |

It might be referring to a specific amount served- a shot of brandy and a glass of wine. Is there more context?  |

A drinker would like the sentence- they could knock back a bottle of wine, half a bottle of brandy and claim that they've only had two units.  |

It actually says "Despite the discrepancies in volume, these drinks all contain one unit of alcohol."
And under this sentence, there are pictures of Port, Lager, Red Wine, White wine, Cider, Brandy and Liqueur.
And then, it says, "One unit of alcohol is equal to 8,000 milligrammes of absolute alcohol."
So...is this more clear? Perhaps it's saying these drinks of the same volume all contain one unit of alcohol?  |
