please tell me how to speak and write english well

I usually watch TV and listen to BBC news on the web, I think they speak English in the easy way but I can do it like them at all. I can hear and understand about 80 per cent but I don't know how to speak. Can you help me to improve my english

Hi Thuong,

I think the key here is practice! By the sound of it your receptive English is pretty good, putting it to use -actively- is the next step. The most effective way is probably taking conversational lessons or, a cheaper solution, to find someone to practice speaking English with. You can also improve your active language skills by simply writing letters or e-mails.

My opinion is that learning through interaction, functional use of language, is the most stimulating way. Having said that, independent home (audio) language courses can also be very instructive.

Good day WiJo! Im here in eglish forum to improve my english skills. The same problem of Mr. Thuong I understand english most of the time but I cannot know how to response or how to deliver, speaks the english word. I dont know why? But it doesnt mean that I understand all the english words, not one hundred percent. I think im only raising 60-70 percent only. I admit it on my self that I'm not good speaker, now I'm starting to watch english movies, magazine and musics. But, you know its hard for me to understand some english movies beause of they accent, I understand what the movie story through their action not on their voices. I need your help o this matter, I'm very desperate to know how to speak english. And also only a common english I know, I do not know some natives english. Please help me. Thanks in advance my friend.

As a learner, reading things out loud have been helping me so much. When I have to talk it has been more natural. With this exercise you probably "teach your brain" how to speak and think at the same time and, it also makes you pronounce the words in the right way. Though I'm not a specialist, I was advised by a teacher to do that.

Right, we can teach our brain through constant practice. "Practice makes perfect." But I like the other version, "Practice makes permanent." If you want to speak well, then you need to speak. If you need to write well, you need to start by writing. And for reading, yes, it will help a lot. As you read more and more, your brain grasps more and more ideas.

Do you ever wonder why we understand more of a movie if we watch it a number of times and not just once? So if you want to learn more expressions, you can start by reading expressions and dialogues,which is where I started with my English, and learn it or read it more.
